Wedding Presentation
My client is from a close-knit family based in Nova Scotia. In preparation of his nuptials he asked if I could delve into his ancestral history and create a poster that would be on display for his cousins attending the event. It was a delight to talk with him and help to trigger names from his past so that I had something to go on. His history was fascinating! His Great-Great Grandfather served with the British Royal Artillery and had been sent to Halifax. I was very lucky to find the service records that also listed his children’s births and places (in various parts of the world). The background features the Halifax Citadel and the family home, with a newspaper clipping of the Halifax explosion, which affected the family. The Spanish Flu was rampaging at the time of the explosion—the second son lost four of his children.
The poster was remarked on quite a bit at the wedding and group of cousins further collaborated with me to include a branch of family from New Brunswick!
